Olympic Airways has struck back at criticism levelled by the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises (SETE<.>) published in June in TravelDailyNews under the headline SETE: Put a stop to Olympics` perks.

Takis Xanthakos, OA`s head of international relations, answered SETE`s charges in an e-mail to TDN, stressing that it formed part of a general attempt to destroy the company in the eyes of the general public.

He said the term national carrier was no longer applicable within EU bounds and pointed out that the open skies policy, the implementation of which SETE sought, had been applied in the EU since the early 1990s.

Furthermore, he said, OA officially follows this policy in its submissions to the Civil Aviation Authority concerning agreements with carriers outside the EU.
