Opening of Mandalina Marina & Yacht Club in summer season 2011

With symbolic movement of the excavators’ joystick, the CEO of NCP Group – Prgin Goran and his business partner, CEO of Turkish company Dogus Group – Husnu Akhan announced the start of the construction for the project worth around 17 million euros. This happened on the opening day of the Adriatic Boat Show and the construction of the Croatia’s first mega yacht marina began immediately after the boat show, on September 21st. "We are a bit late, one year, but it is nothing strange, considering that many projects in the world failed due to economic crisis. Essential is that we moved into construction with our outstanding partners from Turkey. The marina will be ready by the next summer season, and we expect that next year we will complete the construction documentation for the five star hotel resort so that, as we promised, we complete overall project on time. Also, according to announcements, market is moving and good projects should start arriving into NCP Repair Shipyard, we expect the expansion in this sector, as well.” – said Goran Prgin in that occasion.

The mega yacht marina will have a capacity of 79 berths for yachts up to 100 meters long, large reception building with two restaurants in Captain’s Club style and all of this will be an integral part of the future project of five stars hotel resort. This will ultimately provide hundred of new employments and an outstanding range of on-site conveniences for luxury yacht owners, their guests and crew members.

Existing Mandalina Marina with 350 berths for yachts up to 75 meters in length and new mega yacht marina are located in very deep water, but also completely protected area. At the end of the pier depth is app 25 – 27 meters, so the only possible solution was to design marina on floating pontoons. Concerning investor’s wish to have superb marina from any point of view, decision is to use Marinetek concrete floating pontoons and equipment, for all piers and breakwaters that will be delivered by Marinetek NCP from Sibenik, Croatia.

“Also, vicinity to the NCP Repair Shipyard specialized in servicing, maintenance and refit of yachts and mega yachts up to 75 meters in length is an additional and very important advantage of our destination” – said Mr. Prgin.

When asked why he decided to invest in this project in Sibenik, and in NCP Group, CEO of Dogus Group Husnu Akhan replied: "Dogus Group operates three marinas in Turkey, where we started building another one. Of the total operations of the marinas in Turkey, Dogus Group’s share is around 20% and therefore we decided to expand our investments abroad, as well. When we analyzed all the neighboring countries, we concluded that Croatia is a country with incredible potential. A few times we visited various ministries and agencies in Zagreb, we visited Sibenik located in Middle Dalmatia and concluded that this picturesque city is ideal destination. We believe that the NCP Group is our natural partner, not only for this project, but also for future projects of marinas in Croatia.
