Over two decades of success for European Regional Airline Association

The entrance of the new year, and specifically the month of January, marked the launch of a bold new issue of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA<.>) Yearbook, voicing the confident mood of an ever-growing and highly influential body which has just celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The ERA Yearbook 2001, is an insight into the Association`s vision of the future as well as provides professionals in the business with authoritative editorial on a range of aviation topics. These include, `The Major Challenges For Civil Aviation` presented by Alfredo Roma, President of ECAC, and `e-business in the air transport industry: the core issues` where SITA Director General, John Watson discusses the implications of this important new area in airline operations.

Some of the areas that the yearbook in question underlines as being important in the year to come are delays and a single sky for Europe, the environmental balance, the rights of passenger in flight, the slot allocation proposals, the debate over JAA and EASA, as well as other prominent issues.

Taking note of the difficulties within all these areas ERA officials were quoted in the book as saying that there is an even greater increasing need for united action and increased communication within aviation. The same officials added that the ERA supports the efforts of the ERA Directorate and Work Groups so that to the maximum degree possible, our efforts and resources match the level of threat in the various issues that are being faced.
