Reef & Rainforest Tours introduces new range of small ship and expedition vessel wildlife cruises

Reef & Rainforest Tours has introduced a new series of nature and wildlife themed cruises featuring small ships and expedition vessels. Renowned as a specialist in tailor made natural history holidays to exciting and exotic destinations, Reef & Rainforest Tours has handpicked cruises that place a strong emphasis on wildlife and natural history focussing on destinations where they already have years of experience. These include cruises in North and Central America, Peru, Brazil, Galapagos Islands, Antarctica, Arctic, India, Madagascar, Seychelles and Papua New Guinea.

Most cruises include a team of biologists, conservationists and other specialists to help reveal the mysteries of the natural world. Zodiacs and similar are used to access smaller landing spots that are not easily reached, giving passengers rare and unique access to some of the world’s top wildlife locations.

Four sample cruises are detailed below including a one-date only expedition cruise to Antarctica that departs Ushuaia, Argentina on 15th November 2009. All prices include full board cruising as per itinerary, but exclude international flights:

  • Exploring Alaska’s Coastal Wilderness (USA) 8-days: The highlights of this 62-passenger expedition cruise ship – either the National Geographic Sea Bird or Sea Lion – include a day in Glacier Bay National Park, kayaking and Zodiac boating among icebergs in Tracey Arm Fjord, visiting the favoured summer feeding areas of humpback whales and exploring coastlines with some of the highest densities of nesting bald eagle.
  • Voyage to the Heart of the Amazon (Brazil) 8-days: This 8-day cruise on the 18-passenger expedition riverboat Tucano navigates deep up the Rio Negro exploring the rainforest on foot and by motorised canoe. This fascinating voyage ends with a visit to the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the distinctly different colours of the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers converge.
  • Emperors & Kings: Snow Hill & South Georgia (Antarctica) 20-days: This expedition to Antarctica departs from Ushuaia at the southernmost point of Argentina on 15th November 2009 and ventures to the Earth’s last wilderness frontier. On board the polar-class expedition ship Kapitan Khlebnikov powered by 24,000 horsepower engines, advanced icebreaking technology enables exploration that no other passenger vessel can equal. Highlights of this 20-day cruise include a three-day visit to an emperor penguin rookery where adult birds tend their chicks, and forays to king penguin rookeries on South Georgia Island.
  • Papua New Guinea Cultural Highlights. 12 days: As well as being a fantastic 12-day wildlife cruise on board the 106-passenger Orion, this itinerary provides travellers with the opportunity to experience the wonderful cultural diversity of Papua New Guinea and to see the breathtaking scenery unique to this remote island. From tropical fjords and flooded craters through to pristine white sand beaches, the beauty of Papua New Guinea is truly outstanding.
