Construction works will begin in May 2013 and are scheduled to be completed in 16 months.
RIGA – SJSC Riga International Airport entered into agreement with the winner of a restricted tender procedure – unlimited partnership FCC, Hochtief and ACB – for construction works within the framework of Riga International Airport Infrastructure Development project.
The agreement provides for the unlimited partnership FCC, Hochtief and ACB to perform construction works at Riga International Airport for the infrastructure development project, co-financed by the European Union and aiming to improve the environmental conditions of both restricted and public territory, to raise air travel safety standards, and to boost the capacity of Riga International Airport.
The Ministry of Transport stresses that the agreement signed by the airport and the construction partnership distinctly marks the beginning of construction works, carrying out a major European Union Cohesion Fund project at Riga International Airport. The set deadlines are tight; they will demand a high degree of accuracy and commitment of the construction workers and the airport so that passengers and airlines would benefit from the realisation of the infrastructure development project.
The amount of the agreement is EUR 79 487 895.39.
It should be noted that along with entering into the construction agreement, an agreement on building supervision and the designers author’s supervision was also concluded. Building supervision will be performed by ProVia ltd, while the designers author’s supervision during construction works will be provided by the unlimited partnership NAMS/COWI Latvia/Aviaplan, the developer of the construction project for Riga International Airport Infrastructure Development.
The results of the restricted tender procedure “Riga International Airport Infrastructure Development: Construction Work” were approved in a board meeting on 20 August 2012. Upon their confirmation by the Procurement Monitoring Bureau (PMB), a complaint from another applicant was received, reviewed, and on 19 October the PMB decided to allow Riga Airport to enter into agreement with the winner of the tender – FCC, Hochtief un ACB.
The project is implemented by co-funding from the Cohesion Fund and the total attributable project costs are LVL 66,945,228, of which 61% is co-funding from the Cohesion Fund (LVL 41,114,034), while 39% (LVL 25,831,194) are provided by Riga International Airport.
