Following meetings with the Director General of Israel`s Ministry of Tourism, Russia`s state Russiya Airlines says it will launch a weekly charter flight to the Red Sea resort of Eilat beginning October 2005. The company will operate a twice-weekly flight between Moscow and Tel Aviv starting in November.

As well, Phoenix Aviation will begin weekly flights between St. Petersburg and Tel Aviv from April 2006. According to an agreement signed by the airline and the Israeli Tourism Ministry, Phoenix will offer package deals to travelers that include stays in Eilat, Netanyah and the North of Israel. It is expected that an additional 800 Russian travelers will be able to reach Israel every week thanks to the new flights.

Israel`s Tourism Minister Avraham Hirchson says it is the country`s goal to attract 400,000 Russian tourists to the country in 2006.
