SkyWork Airlines promotes its double daily service from London City Airport to Bern

SkyWork Airlines of Switzerland has come up with a novel way of promoting its new double daily services from London City Airport to the Swiss capital. It has invited UK members of the London-based British Swiss Chamber of Commerce to participate in a race from London to the top of the Jungfrau.

Six competitors from the 125-strong membership will set out next Saturday morning, 1 October, on six different routings: SkyWork from London City to Bern, British Midland Airways/Swiss Air Lines from London Heathrow to Basle, Easyjet from Gatwick to Geneva, Easyjet from London Luton to Geneva, Swiss Air Lines from Heathrow to Zurich and Swiss Air Lines from London City to Zurich.

They will rendezvous at Jungfraujoch Station, which at 11,332 ft is the highest railway station in Europe. The competitor with the shortest elapsed journey time from their take off in London to arrival at the top of Jungfrau will be declared the winner.  A celebratory dinner is being provided by the Hotel Caprice in Wengen, sponsored by Jungfrau Region Tourism. Rail travel is being sponsored by SBB and Jungfraubahn and overnight accommodation is being provided by the Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage in Interlaken with lunch at the hotel sponsored by Interlaken Tourism.
