Stena Line has for the fifth consecutive year achieved the internationally recognised Hospitality Assured standard for service and business excellence in hospitality – gaining its highest ever overall Hospitality Assured accreditation score.

The company’s Irish Sea routes consist of the Northern Corridor (Stranraer – Belfast / Fleetwood – Larne), Central Corridor (Holyhead – Dun Laoghaire / Dublin Port) and the Southern Corridor (Fishguard – Rosslare). Each year, since the company initially achieved the Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA)-led Hospitality Assured standard in 2000, one of the routes has been audited against the standard’s criteria, in order to regain the annually re-assessed Hospitality Assured accreditation. This year, it was the turn of the Central Corridor route.

Commenting on Stena Line’s 2005 Hospitality Assured re-assessment success, Vic Goodwin, Route Director for the Central and Southern Corridor Routes, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this accreditation five years in succession. It is a tremendous milestone for our staff and a reflection of their hard-work and drive to always provide our guests with the highest standards possible. The Hospitality Assured award represents a long-term commitment to our customers, and the most challenging monitor for service excellence we have found. To compare favourably with organisations, known for their first class service levels, is a real boost for all of us. The accreditation confirms Stena Line’s commitment to bringing passengers exceptional service while continuing to be the number one choice for ferry passengers on the Irish Sea.”

The Hospitality Assured accreditation was undertaken by an independent assessment team, led by the HCIMA – the internationally recognised body for professionals in the hospitality, tourism and leisure industry. Commenting on Stena Line’s fine achievement, the HCIMA Chief Executive Philippe Rossiter FHCIMA said: “Stena Line (Irish Sea) and all those involved in its Central Corridor Route are to be congratulated on gaining its highest ever overall Hospitality Assured assessment score, demonstrating that the company is delivering ‘outstanding’ service and business excellence. Stena Line (Irish Sea) joins an elite band of organisations –including the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), and Wyboston Lakes Business and Leisure Village in Bedfordshire – that have achieved this level of excellence in their Hospitality Assured overall scores.”
