‘Sustainability Policy Generator’ makes greener business easier

Social enterprise, Much Better Adventures, has launched a unique ‘Sustainability Policy Generator and Action Planner’ to help small tour operators and accommodation providers get to grips with sustainability, achieve cost savings and meet emerging customer trends.

The affordable consultancy service, developed with the input of Sustainable Travel International and the Travel Foundation, helps small travel operators to create a professional sustainability policy, and then identify future goals that can be achieved through simple and manageable steps that make good business sense.

The service is designed to make sustainability simple, helping small firms cut through a potentially confusing aspect of modern business. During a jargon-free one-hour phone call, a detailed and structured self-assessment of current sustainability efforts is conducted, helping businesses to quickly identify and communicate to clients and their supply chain, as well as finding new goals to further minimise impacts and save money in the process.

A total of 15 companies have already benefited from the service, which has been researched and developed over the last 12 months. One early adopter, ski business More Mountain, found a way to save 160,000 litres of water in just one chalet over a winter season – the equivalent annual water use of a UK family of five.

Siân Easton, Head of Consultancy, says “Customers want to be assured that the companies they do business with are taking responsibility to ensure impacts are managed. Addressing this desire need not be an expensive, time-consuming, and complicated process.  This one-hour phone consultancy is an ideal way for travel operators to improve and communicate their sustainable practices.
