The IFITT and Bournemouth University feature their events in WTM 2012

IFITT's Technology Enabled Tourism Experience Economy and the BU Tourism Futures Forum to be hosted in the WTM 2012 events, starting next week.

LONDON- Touching upon key issues of the tourism industry, the IFITT and the Bournemouth University host two events in this year’s World Travel Market starting next week. The Technology Enabled Tourism Experience Economy, organized by IFITT and the BU Tourism Futures Forum, provide an opportunity for professionals and academia to exchange their knowledge and opinions on important tourism concepts.

The tourism experts of Bournemouth University organize the BU Tourism Futures Forum on Thursday 8 November, in partnership with the World Travel Market and TravelDailyNews. This forum aims to facilitate an interactive discussion among leading tourism practitioners on the future of the tourism industry, providing insight on its prospect dimensions, trends in demand and supply and strategic changes. This free event will feature two short research based presentations, after which Chairman Professor Dimitrios Buhalis will encourage the panelist’s and participant’s contribution to the debate.

Touching upon a key issue of the future of the tourism industry, IFITT’s Technology Enabled Tourism Experience Economy event taking place on Monday 5th November, will discuss the issue of experience economy in the tourism field, analyzing the role of the vast technological advancements in experiential tourism marketing. Through this two-hour free workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about current practices and future opportunities of technology-enhanced tourism experiences from leading experts in the field. Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, IFITT President and Chair in Tourism at Bournemouth University will be the workshop moderator and Kevin May, Co-Founder and editor of Tnooz.com will be the conference rapporteur.

Following the 2011 great success the World Travel Market this year features a massive 117 events in its four-day duration. Professionals of the tourism industry will have a unique opportunity to attend seminars and conferences delivered by experts and leading industry figures. The themes of the events vary from airline and hotel events to responsible tourism and destination briefing events, with technology and social media playing a prominent role.
