EOT general secretary Evgenios Yiannakopoulos said that last week 51 inspectors checked 309 hotel units, 139 tourism enterprises including travel agencies and car hire firms, 26 ports, five airports, two museums and 19 beaches at various destinations, particularly those hosting greater tourism traffic this year. Especial focus was placed on instances of consumer exploitation.
Inspectors advised improvements be made in services offered at 130 of the hotels while legal action is expected to be taken in four cases.
The tourist police took action in six cases where tourist enterprises where found to be breaching standards.
On-the-spot checks for customer exploitation were carried out at the ports of Mykonos, Corfu, Paros, Naxos and Syros.
