Tourism Toronto, The Toronto Convention and Visitors Association, opened its London sales office and appointed Gill Sage as Account Director for the U.K. meetings and incentive travel market. “The U.K. is a powerful corporate and incentive market player. We need to be there delivering more high-value business to Toronto,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of Tourism Toronto.
In a newly created position as Account Director for the U.K Corporate and incentive market, Ms. Gill Sage joins Tourism Toronto to help advance the organization’s sales initiatives targeting the U.K. With two decades of sales experience, Ms. Sage brings to Tourism Toronto strong knowledge and contacts in the U.K. market. She most recently held the position of Head of Sales, Airport Express Alliance in London, and previous to that held the position of Director, Charter and Incentive Sales for Carnival Corporation.
“I’m thrilled to be promoting and supporting Toronto,” said Gill Sage. “Toronto is a vibrant place which remains a ‘hidden secret’ for many event planners.”
“Overseas markets are becoming more and more important to both convention and leisure travel to the Toronto region, and the United Kingdom is our most important overseas market,” said Mr. Whitaker. “By expanding our international team we are putting Toronto in the best position to capitalize on the growing U.K. prospects.”
Tourism Toronto estimates 317,000 U.K. visitors travelled to Toronto last year making it the city’s second-highest year for U.K. visitors and an increase of 7 per cent since 2004.
Tourism Toronto has sales offices with full-time sales teams in Chicago, Washington, DC, Ottawa, Mississauga, Ontario and Markham, Ontario.
