Kavala prefect Theodoros Kalliotzis attributed the boost in the number of visitors from the neighbouring country to the rapprochement between Greece and Turkey as well as Kavala`s successful participation in the EMMIT 2000, tourism fair in Istanbul.
Last year Kavala authorities allocated 105 million drachmas to the promotion of Kavala and Thassos and focused on attracting Turkish tourists from Istanbul. Bulgarian travellers, are also showing interest in visiting the town.
