Richard Branson`s, Virgin Atlantic<.> emerged as the 2001 winner of the Alasta Travel Consultancy Award, ahead of Vienna based airline Lauda Air and Gulf Air.

It was a very close competition this year between Virgin Atlantic and Lauda Air, but with the number one position for Best Check in Service, Best Business Lounge, Best Aircraft Seat and Best In-Flight Entertainment System, Virgin Atlantic was too strong for the rest of the competitors.

According to Alasta Travel Consultancy auditors the Business Class concept from Virgin Atlantic is named the Upper Class and is the perfect combination for every Business Traveler. Virgin Atlantic provides you with the easiest check in service and tops the other airlines in the quality and service which has been given in the Virgin Atlantic`s Club House Lounge at London Heathrow. Your being served with a tasteful small- or large meal, free International phone calls, a beauty centre and the best views around the airport. A great seat concept and an excellent cabin service gives you the flight where you have always dreamed off.

The Amadeus Class from Lauda Air provides the Business Traveler with the Best Quality of Cabin Service around and the Best Catering that can be served in an airplane. For this reason Lauda Air picked up the two number one positions in that category in the Alasta Travel Consultancy Survey 2001 which were published in the Dutch Travel Magazine QEP in December 2001.

Alasta Travel Consultancy auditors have flown more than 300,000 miles across the World.

The results of these surveys where as followed:

Best Business Class: Virgin Atlantic, Lauda Air, Gulf Air

Best Check in Service: Virgin Atlantic, Lauda Air, KLM

Best Business Lounge: Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, KLM

Best Cabin Staff: Lauda Air, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates

Best Catering: Lauda Air, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates

Best Seats: Virgin Atlantic, Gulf Air, KLM

Best Inflight Entertainment: Virgin Atlantic, Lauda Air, Cathay Pacific

Best Inflight Magazine: KLM, Virgin Atlantic, BMI

The airlines involved in the 2001 survey where: Air Pacific, American Airlines, BMI British Midland, Cathay Pacific, Delta Airlines, Emirates, Garuda Indonesia, Gulf Air, KLM, Lauda Air, Lufthansa, Qantas, Sabena, Swissair, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

British Airways and Singapore Airlines where out placed in the survey. Due to the slow introduction of their New Business Class products, Alasta`s auditors only had the change to survey their old concepts.
