Virgin<.> Express continues to invest in technology, which enables travel agents to make bookings online more easily. From December 2000 until May 2001 the low fare carrier has used all four major GDS systems (Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan), introducing a new low-cost and powerful booking product for the travel trade, adapted to Virgin Express` ticketless environment. Now, Virgin Express has launched a unique internet-based booking engine for travel agents and corporate accounts.



Virgin Express is the first airline on mainland Europe to offer travel agents (both IATA and non-IATA) and large corporate clients the opportunity to book low fare flights through the internet. The booking module is situated at a password-protected section on the Virgin Express website.



Apart from the fact that the new internet-based booking engine for trade users is fast, secure and low-cost, both private and corporate fares are bookable through the internet-based system. Moreover, travel agents can access the reservation module from any place at any time (24 hours a day, seven days a week). Consequently, they can even service their customers from home.



The travel agent booking engine is very user-friendly. No special training is needed to start using the booking system. As a result, even inexperienced staff can make flight reservations for customers.



Travel agents are awarded the full 9% commission. The online booking module also enables travel agents and corporate travel managers to book connecting flights for their clients.



This is a major step in the development of distribution for travel agents and corporate travellers. Virgin Express is committed to make travelling more accessible for passengers and therefore is always looking for new distribution channels to reach even more passengers and to offer them value for money.
