Visit London announces major expansion of marketing and sales teams

Empty desks are rapidly being filled at the impressive More London offices on the South Bank. Seven new faces have recently joined Visit London in further expansion of the growing sales and marketing teams.



Sheila Ramaiya commenced her role at Visit London last week as the Events and Exhibition Manager. Sheila comes to this newly created role from Spearhead Exhibitions (now part of Reed Exhibitions) where she worked for the last four years project managing exhibitions, conferences and other after show events. She has a Business and Marketing degree from Bristol Business School.



Emma Pretty`s position as Brand Executive is a new position created to support Brand Manager Liana Dinghile. Emma comes from a marketing, brand and communication background and returns to London after a year of traveling.



The business and conventions sales team has grown to include five new recruits.



Jane Pendlebury is the new General Manger of Sales. She has a BSc and a sales background in hospitality technology.



Jane`s challenge is to work with the Visit London sales team to increase revenues for London from key markets and segments.



Additionally, to increase partnership for Visit London and ensure that current partners are happy and productive.



Shahnaz Cola starts next month as the new UK Sales Manager. Shahnaz`s job is to promote and win association, MICE and Business Travel business for London, from within the UK. She has lived in London all her life, and has a strong hotel sales background. She has a business studies degree.



Fiona Plumpton joins Visit London on 12 July as Client Services Manager, Business & Conventions. Fiona`s primary responsibility is to manage Visit London`s Venue Enquiry Service and increase conversion levels of incoming business enquiries. Fiona has an MA from Edinburgh University, extensive experience in hotels & venues and sales experience with corporates and agents.



Damian Garnett, in his position as Business Marketing Manager, will provide marketing input to Visit London`s overall strategy for attracting global business tourism to the capital. He will develop ways to cross market between business and leisure tourism to increase volume and visitor spend. He comes to London from a financial services background.



Nick Chaffe joins Niall Brolly in the sales team as the second Sales Manager Partnerships. With a background in sponsorship strategy and sales, Nick has experience with influencing marketing partnerships across both retail and the arts.



Nick`s key responsibility will be to encourage and recruit new Visit London partners.



David Hornby, Commercial Director, said: `We`ve put a lot of time and effort into getting the right people for these important roles and we are really excited about the future of our new team. With our internal structure rapidly taking shape,we are now in a position to start making real progress on the business tourism strategy for London and objectives for Visit London as set out by the business tourism industry`.



Martine Ainsworth-Wells, General Manager Marketing, said: `London is truly back in the spotlight – we`ve had a great start to the year in terms of visitors numbers and we need to keep increasing our capacity so that we can build on the work we`ve started and keep going from strength to strength.`
