Visit London’s annual London Overseas Visitor Survey,has revealed what visitors really think of London and its inhabitants and the findings are overwhelmingly positive.

81% of those asked said their first impression of London was ‘Excellent’ or ‘Good’ and an astounding 98% said they were likely to recommend London to friends.

Contrary to popular myth that Londoners are unfriendly, 84% of those asked, said they find Londoners Very Friendly or Friendly, the highest number being from non-EU Europe and USA/ Canada, where in both cases 89% of those asked thought this.

James Bidwell, Chief Executive of Visit London commented, The results of this year’s Overseas Visitor Survey reveal the high esteem and loyalty that foreign visitors hold for London. Clearly London holds a fascination for visitors time and time again and is the top city destination in the world.

Other findings within the survey include:

  • 28% of those surveyed are expecting to return to London in the next 12 months.

  • London was the principle attraction of Britain according to 48%, up from 31% in 2004.

  • 93% of visitors rated London as very safe or fairly safe.

  • When asked how London could be improved, 59% said there could be no improvements.
