Eurowings launches 16 new routes to/from Greece this summer

Eurowings is also increasing frequencies on 6 existing routes to Greece. 40% growth will deliver more than 300,000 additional tourists to Greece.

COLOGNE/BONN, ATHENS –  Eurowings held a press conference on the new routes this afternoon in Athens. The panel of speakers was attended by Markus Leopold, Senior Regional Director of Eurowings and Ivan Orec, Senior Manager of Network Development. Representing the Ministry of Tourism, the event was honored by the presence of Mr. Giorgos Tzialas, Secretary-General of Tourism Policy and Development.

As Eurowings continues to expand its network, Europe’s fastest growing airline is launching 16 new routes to/from Greece this summer, offering 66 routes in total to the Hellenic Republic. Corfu, Heraklion & Kos are getting four new routes, Rhodes three and Zakynthos one new route. Furthermore Eurowings is increasing frequencies on 6 existing routes to Greece this summer. Therefore, Eurowings will grow by 40% this year in Greece, transporting more than 1.4m passengers and delivering more than 300,000 additional tourists to Greece.  

All new Eurowings routes are already on sale on www.eurowings.com or via the Eurowings app. There is also the option on the website to book budget package holidays through the Eurowings Holidays tour operator. These combine the new flight options with attractive hotel offers.

Markus Leopold, Senior Regional Manager at Eurowings said: "We are delighted to grow by such a significant number in Greece this year. By transporting 1.4m passengers and delivering more than 300,000 additional tourists to Greece this year we are securing more than 1,000 jobs in the country."

Ivan Orec, Senior Manager Network Development said: "We will continue to grow our traffic in Greece, not only during the peak summer months, but also during the whole year, including winter. As we are becoming one of the biggest European low cost carriers, Greece will remain one of our top markets and these trends will continue in the upcoming periods."
