EVA Introduces Hello Kitty Flights to San Francisco

Specially painted plane flying twice a week to start.

SAN FRANCISCO – EVA Air celebrated introduction of its colorful Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand Jet into its San Francisco schedule on October 29, 2019. Following the first flight, EVA will operate the specially painted plane on Saturdays and Thursdays until December 1 when it will increase Hello Kitty Jet service to three flights a week. EVA is incorporating the Hello Kitty Jet into its 21 weekly nonstop flights from San Francisco to Taipei, Taiwan where, with just one stop, passengers can fly on to every major city in Asia and Mainland China.

From nose to tail of the colorful Boeing 777-300ER, Hello Kitty and Sanrio friends of different colors, shapes and sizes join hands to invite travel and friendship, promising fun flights from take-off to landing. Among the 19 Sanrio Family characters linking hands with Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel are My Melody, Kuromi, Little Twin Stars, Cinnamoroll, Pompom Purin and Bad Badtz-Maru.

Prior to the fall time change in the United States on Sunday, November 3, EVA’s Hello Kitty BR07 flight is scheduled to depart San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 12:20 pm and arrive at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 5:10 pm the next day. Inbound, flight BR08 is scheduled to leave TPE at 10:30 am and land in SFO at 6:30 am. After the time change, BR07 will get into Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 6:10 pm the next day and BR08 will take off from TPE at 11:30 am. SFO arrival and departure times do not change. Flight time from San Francisco to Taipei is 13 hrs. 50 minutes. From Taipei back to San Francisco, it’s 11 hours.

Daytime departures and arrivals add to the fun and excitement of the special livery for passengers and other travelers alike, bringing smiles to young and old as the cheerful livery comes into sight. The schedule also offers convenient flight itinerary options. From San Francisco, EVA’s midday flights get passengers into Taipei in late afternoon, in time for dinner or an easy one-stop nighttime connection to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Manila or Saigon. Return flights arrive in San Francisco in the early morning, giving travelers the full day to enjoy Bay-area attractions, schedule meetings and work or travel onward to destinations throughout the United States and Canada.

The fun of flying on EVA’s Hello Kitty and Sanrio Family Jets begins at airport check-in with specially designed boarding passes and baggage stickers. Onboard, the cabin crews wear light-green Hello Kitty Jet aprons and passengers use service items decorated with the irresistible characters. Service items include themed headrest covers, pillowcases, tissue, hand cream, hand-washing liquid, napkins, paper cups, utensils and snack packaging. EVA also offers Hello Kitty and Sanrio Family duty-free items through the EVA Sky Shop online and inflight.

EVA flies seven of the specially painted aircraft on routes within Asia, in addition to its long-haul service to Chicago and, now, San Francisco. The airline’s other Hello Kitty planes are the Shining Star, Joyful Dream, Celebration Flight and Friendship Bows. EVA’s Sanrio Family aircraft are the gudetama Comfort Flight and Bad Badtz-Maru Travel Fun planes.

EVA launched the Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand Jet on the Los Angeles – Taipei route in September 2013.
