Expedia.ca continues focus on mobile tech development, introduces major app updates

Adds rental cars and local activity options to the Expedia app, alongside flights and hotels.

TORONTO – Expedia.ca unveiled its latest update to the award-winning Expedia app. The free Expedia app has now introduced the ability to book rental cars and local activities in destinations around the world, complementing the app’s already enormous selection of flights and hotels. These technology updates are just a few examples of commitment from Expedia.ca to providing an easy and intuitive booking process while surfacing the best deals they can provide.

“We’ve had many exciting technology advancements at Expedia.ca this year,” said Sean Shannon, Managing Director, Expedia® brand in Canada. “We strive to provide Canadians with the most intuitive tools for planning their travel. Our aim is to simplify the mobile experience so that whether you’ve spent months planning your trip or are booking on-the-fly, the Expedia app puts all of the features you need to book right at your fingertips.”

With the newest additions to the Expedia app, customers can now choose from 26 car rental suppliers globally and book in just a few clicks through the app.  By including the ability to book local activities within the app, Expedia.ca now brings over 10,000 activities in more than 90 destinations to the mobile application.  Activities include excursions, show tickets, spa treatments and a range of other activities to meet every Canadian traveller’s needs while away.

Acting as a mobile extension to Expedia.ca world-renowned online booking tools, the Expedia app represents the ideal travel companion, wrapping travel, accommodations and activities into one streamlined experience on-the-go.

To celebrate the power of Expedia’s app and the upcoming summer travel season Expedia.ca is partnering with Canadian family travel blogger Heather Greenwood Davis, known internationally as Globetrotting Mama. Heather and her family will be taking a 30-day road trip across North America to show Canadians how they can make the most of their summer travel. Heather’s family will be using Expedia.ca mobile products throughout their journey to spontaneously book and manage the ultimate family road trip on-the-fly. You can follow Heather’s family on their journey from destination to destination here.

“Part of the joy of road tripping with tech is being able to manage your plans with the click of a button,” said Heather Greenwood Davis. “With the Expedia app, everything we need is in one place. We can book and change hotel reservations, get real-time updates and browse nearby activities.  Expedia.ca has made the experience of planning our trip as simple as ever, letting us focus on the journey at hand.”

Enhancements made to the mobile experience by Expedia.ca reinforces their commitment to consolidating all facets of travel planning into one accessible package, making the Expedia app a one-stop travel concierge, there for travellers when they need it most.
