Fly to Nantes this summer with bmi regional

Beginning 4 July, France’s sixth-largest city and the gateway to the Loire region will be served twice-weekly by bmi regional from Bristol Airport, with fares from only £79pp including 20kg checked baggage and at seat full bar and snack service.

The countdown has begun to the launch of bmi regional’s eagerly awaited summer 2015 route to the French city of Nantes.

Beginning 4 July, France’s sixth-largest city and the gateway to the Loire region will be served twice-weekly by bmi regional from Bristol Airport.

Nantes is a popular leisure destination – perfect for a weekend break. The Muscadet wine district surrounds the city and wine tours further afield into the Loire region are a popular way to discover the region. For cyclists, there is 240km of continuous cycle track in the Pays-de-la-Loire waiting to be explored.

The city itself is located on the Loire River in one of the most beautiful regions in Europe, with museums, historical landmarks and churches. To see the city, take a harbour or river cruise, make use of the two water bus services, or rent one of the 790 self-service bikes from 89 stations in central Nantes.

With works by Monet, Picasso and Chagall among others, the Musee des Beaux-Arts houses one of the finest collections of French paintings outside Paris, while a must-visit is the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne (Castle of the Dukes of Brittany), which now hosts the Nantes History Museum.

Nantes also offers some quirky attractions such as Les Machines de l’Ile de Nantes – a fantasy world where visitors can ride 45-tonne mechanical elephant and meet oversized sea life on a magical adventure.

The launch of the new bmi regional service to Nantes is ideally timed for one of the city’s most popular events. During July and August, visitors can explore an artistic and poetic trail in the city: the six mile-long Voyage a Nantes Art Trail, which has 30 stops along the way, is filled with both temporary and permanent artworks.

Paul Sies, Chief Commercial Officer said: “We’re thrilled to add Nantes to our expanding network and open up the Loire Valley region to travellers from the South West this summer. With our excellent punctuality record, generous checked baggage allowance and full at-seat bar and snack service, the Nantes service offers excellent value for money.”
