G Adventures launches new ‘on the doorstep’ trips

10 new closer-to-home options across Iceland, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Morocco introduced for 2023.

As we head into 2023, global adventure operator, G Adventures, is bringing adventure back with the launch of 10 new trips across Europe and Morocco, focused on affordability and celebrating a rediscovered love for closer-to-home experiences among its UK travellers. From weekend challenges taking on Mount Toubkal and trekking around Iceland’s lesser-hiked southern coastline, to exploring the wine villages of Tuscany, the trips shine a spotlight on the high-value, low-duration adventures on the UK’s doorstep.

During the pandemic, G Adventures saw its European trips rise in popularity, sitting among its top 5 most booked regions by UK travellers for the first time. With traveller mindsets changing, this trend for short-haul experiences – beyond the usual beach holiday – has held steady, with bookings continuing well into 2023.

Spanning across the adventure operator’s Classic and Active travel styles and ranging from four to thirteen days, the new trips include weekend options and adventures in destinations with good flight capacity, to help keep costs down without compromising on experience and cultural immersion.

“The past two years has changed the way travellers think about short-haul destinations, with many having discovered the wealth of experiences and landscapes available on our doorstep. There’s no denying that long-haul will continue to play a big role in UK holidaymakers calendars, which we’ve seen with the success of our trips in Peru, Thailand and Costa Rica, but there’s definitely a renewed appetite for high value, closer-to home-options as travellers look at ways to make their holiday money go further,” says Brian Young, managing director of G Adventures.

“A rise in more experience-based travel has been reported across the industry as travellers look for more than the usual beach holiday. We’ve seen a rise in achievement-based holidays and our new shorter active trips allow travellers to get that adventure-fix without having to sacrifice too much holiday time.” Young continues.

Beyond Europe, seven new Morocco trips will offer affordable options to city-break seekers, hiking enthusiasts and beach lovers.
