gategroup to sell Gate Gourmet Brussels operation

The decision to divest the operation is part of the restructuring program within Europe previously announced by gategroup.

ZURICH – gategroup has signed an agreement to sell its Gate Gourmet flight catering operation at Brussels Αirport to LSG Sky Chefs, effective November 1, 2013.

gategroup expects to transition the entire operation and workforce over the next six months to the buyer’s existing business at Brussels Airport. This phased approach will be discussed with the works councils and unions with a view to maintain a high quality of service for the airlines and their passengers.

The decision to divest the operation is part of the restructuring program within Europe previously announced by gategroup. While the Brussels business offered limited growth for the Gate Gourmet business, the new service provider is adding the business to its existing portfolio, where they already serve the hub carrier, Brussels Airlines.

“This transaction represents another important step in the restructuring of our operations. We are focused on serving airlines at their hubs and other locations where we can best leverage our expertise and capital to strengthen profitability“, said Jann Fisch, President of gategroup’s European Airline Solutions business.

The contract details remain confidential and are subject to all necessary approvals. The impact of this transaction on the overall performance of gategroup is not material.
