Grand Celebretion in Genoa for maintenance work, with a total investment of 4.5m. euros

The ship of Costa Crociere Group is being serviced by San Giorgio del Porto shipyard in Genoa.

HON KONG – Costa Crociere S.p.A. has brought new business to Genoa, its home city. From April 29 through May 17, the Grand Celebration (47,263 gross tonnage and 1896 total Guests), a ship operating for Iberocruceros, the Spanish brand owned of Costa Group, will be docked in Genoa for planned maintenance.

Costa Cruises is investing a total of 4.5 million euro for these works, that are being performed by San Giorgio del Porto shipyard in Genoa, one of the international leaders for ship repairs and refitting. There are also significant benefits in terms of employment: maintenance works  involve about 400 people, mainly from the contracted suppliers commissioned both locally and beyond.

The servicing on the Grand Celebration involves both the hull & engine section and the hotel Section. As far as concerns the former, the biggest jobs are the cleaning and repainting of the hull; the scheduled operations for hotel department include the replacement of the carpet, curtains, upholstery, furniture, decorations and other items and material subject to wear and tear in the public areas and cabins.

After the dry dock, the Grand Celebration will depart from Valencia on May 18 on a positioning cruise to Venice. During summer 2014 the ship will be deployed in Eastern Mediterranean, offering 7-day cruises from Venice and Instanbul.
