Greengage launches ECOsmart sustainable hotels and venues directory in a drive for greener travel and meetings

Greengage’s ECOsmart programme is positioned to help meet the demand for greener solutions, assisting hotels and meeting venues in developing an eco-friendly approach and recognising achievement through the ECOsmart accreditation process.

MAIDENHEAD – Greengage Travel and Event Solutions has launched the ECOsmart Hotels & Venues Directory, showcasing hand-picked properties across the UK that demonstrate an eco-friendly approach. The programme is designed to make it easier for event organisers and corporate travellers looking for greener meeting or accommodation options.

Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage Travel & Event Solutions, feels that the timing is right to launch a corporate-focussed sustainable network. “Whilst COVID absolutely dominated the corporate agenda in 2020 there is evidence that, with a vaccine-enabled end in sight, companies will be placing more emphasis on sustainability in business recovery, including sustainable travel and event solutions”. A GBTA (Global Business Travel Association) poll revealed over 70% of travel managers believe it is important to empower travellers to make sustainable travel choices.

Greengage’s ECOsmart programme is positioned to help meet the demand for greener solutions, assisting hotels and meeting venues in developing an eco-friendly approach and recognising achievement through the ECOsmart accreditation process. Successful properties receive awards at Bronze to Platinum levels and are showcased in the new online ECOsmart Directory. Alongside venue information, images and mapping each property’s sustainability qualities are highlighted to provide a first-rate representation of the eco-friendly features on offer.

Commenting on the launch Perolls explains, “Greengage is committed to supporting the trend towards greater sustainability in Travel and Events. We want to help equip hotels and venues with a competitive green advantage, ready for when the market starts to bounce back”.

Phase one of the ECOsmart rollout focuses predominantly on eco-friendly independent hotels, aparthotels and meetings venues. Greengage has further independent properties and multiple sustainably focussed hotel chains in the immediate pipeline to boost its fast-growing network over the coming weeks. Greengage is working alongside Meeting and Event agency partners to promote the green agenda.
