Gulf Air introduces additional flights to select popular destinations this summer

Airline increases flights to Beirut, Amman and Bangkok in response to high demand during the holiday season.

MANAMA, KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN – Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced additional flights between Bahrain and select popular destinations as part of its Summer 2014 schedule. In order to meet growing passenger numbers, the airline will increase its flights to Amman, Beirut and Bangkok.

Gulf Air flights to the Jordanian capital will increase to 17 flights per week as of 20th July while flights to Beirut and Bangkok will increase to 9 flights per week and 7 flights per week, respectively, as of 25th July. The summer schedule for Amman will be effective until 25 October 2014, while for Beirut and Bangkok will be in effect until the 14 September 2014 and 27 September respectively.

Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Ahmed Janahi commented on the additional flights: “With the summer and Eid holidays fast approaching we are seeing an increase in travel demand to some of the airline’s most popular destinations. Our additional flights to Amman, Beirut and Bangkok follow our recently increased frequencies to Cairo, Istanbul and Larnaca, as well as the launch of our newest destination, Athens. The launch of Gulf Air’s summer schedule reinforces our business strategy to strengthen the airline’s core regional network while maintaining strategic business and tourism links to key global destinations. These additional frequencies to Amman, Beirut and Bangkok allow more weekly connectivity for passengers travelling from across our network to any of these three cities, via Bahrain.”

Flights to Amman have been increased from double daily flights to 17 weekly flights, adding three additional frequencies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays departing Bahrain at 11:30.  Flights to Beirut have been increased to 9 weekly flights from daily flights, with two added frequencies on Fridays and Sundays, departing Bahrain at 13:35.  Flights to Bangkok have been increased from 6 to 7 weekly flights, with the additional frequency departing Bahrain at 20:15 on Fridays.

Gulf Air holds a leadership position in the Middle East by operating one of the largest regional networks, with multiple daily flights to more than 10 regional cities. The national carrier is well-positioned to facilitate two-way movement between either of Amman, Beirut and Bangkok and various destinations in the airline’s GCC and Europe network, through its efficient hub Bahrain.
