Inside Travel Group commits to climate action

InsideJapan and InsideAsia Tours publish their Climate Action Plan and commit to becoming Carbon Neutral by 2025.

BOULDER, CO – Inside Travel Group, which operates InsideJapan Tours and InsideAsia Tours, has become a launch partner signatory to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Acton in Tourism, committing further to specific targets in efforts to halve global emissions by 2030. The Declaration was officially launched at the November 2021 UN Climate Change Conference Glasgow. Inside Travel Group has made strides in its commitment to climate change initiatives and reducing its carbon footprint since the appointment of a full-time permanent Sustainability Manager in 2019. The long-haul tour operator is one of only a handful of tour operators to become Travelife Partner Certified and supporters of the ‘Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency’ movement.

Inside Travel Group has always been about putting our people, the places we visit and the environment above short-term profit, and we recognize that the industry needs firms like Inside Travel Group to stand up and be counted, pushing the agenda for business done the right way,” said Co-founder and Co-director Alastair Donnelly. “During the pandemic, we have been putting more resources into our carbon measurement and reduction plans in our branch offices and with everything we do in our destinations. We have launched our ‘Every Trip Off-set’ policy and have made massive strides towards our goal of becoming an accredited B-Corporation. These are not empty promises but clear goals and drivers enabling us to be the best at what we do at home and in our specialist destinations.”

The sustainable action to sign the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action goes hand in hand with InsideAsia’s expansion of its offerings across Southeast and East Asia beyond Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Japan to include Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, Singapore and South Korea.

Our trips aim to ‘get beneath the surface’ to work in harmony with our destinations, to benefit the communities that live there and inspire the customers that travel, but we recognize that travel is also a part of the climate crisis,” states Co-Founder and Co-Director, Simon King. “Through our comprehensive Climate Action Plan we are committed to playing a leading role in the travel industry towards a more sustainable future that ensures our destinations are better places to live and better places to visit.”

Donnelly added, “We always strive to be a leader in the industry and the more destinations we can offer the Inside Travel service and experience for, the wider our positive influence in the industry will become.”

Inside Travel Group aims to become a fully carbon neutral business by 2025 and has just published their detailed Climate Action Plan.
