Italy and France as leading MICE destinations in the EMEA region

Pacific World 1st Annual Destination Index Special Report shows that Rome’s current popularity is attributable to its conventional but reinvented venues and activities as well as the aggressive investment in new hotels in the city (7% new hotels) in the last 2 years.

Pacific World, the integrated global DMC and Event Management organisation, has recently released its first Annual Destination Index Special Report, which identifies Italy and France as two of the top MICE destinations in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) region.

The report shows that Rome’s current popularity is attributable to its conventional but reinvented venues and activities as well as the aggressive investment in new hotels in the city (7% new hotels) in the last 2 years.

Emanuele Pinna, Destination Manager Italy at Pacific World, commented: “Italy has benefited from great visibility thanks to important events celebrated in the country last year such as The International Conference on Nutrition whose world headquarters are located in Rome and the World Summit of Nobel Peace held in December. In addition, the Etihad and Alitalia partnership has offered new perspective for the Middle and Far East markets in the region, making it more attractive.”

Paris, Strasbourg and Loire Valley in France are also attracting strong number of meetings and incentive planners. Corporate company headquarters located in Paris’ outskirts including Bayer, Sanofi, Abbott, Baxter, Dell, HP, Peugeot and Renault have contributed towards its popularity, as their presence has led to towards the increase of corporate events and meetings in the region.

Cecile Dubeau, Destination Manager France at Pacific World, commented, “Paris is one the most well connected cities in the world and the city has been investing in renovating iconic monuments that can now be used as venues for events. Venues that represent the destination are in high demand, together with reinvented conventional team-building activities.”
