JTB GMT: One-stop service Japan DMC at ITB Berlin 2020

Japan’s 2020 market environment is predicted to be one of grandeur. An immense visitor increase is expected in the summer.

TOKYO – 2020 is Japan’s year. The country’s capital is preparing to welcome millions of excited foreign visitors from around the world in all travel business segments. Japan Inbound specialist DMC, JTB Global Marketing and Travel Inc. (JTB GMT) – part of the Global DMC Network by JTB Group – is more than ready to show the world what its Japanese hospitality services are all about during this year’s ITB Berlin.

JTB GMT has a long history of hospitality – part of 1912 originated parent company JTB and currently Asia’s number one travel agent – as the DMC perfected its total management for overseas tourists over the century. JTB GMT’s recent portfolio includes the handling of largescale international sports events, last years’ Imperial Enthronement Ceremony – and this year the world’s most famous sports event, putting Japan on the map as the hot destination to visit. In addition, currently carrying the title of “Best Destination Management Company in North Asia” during the M&C Asia Stella Awards as the only Japanese company to win an award for any category, the DMC is looking forward to showcase its Japanese hospitality and total solutions to the European market in the Group & FIT business segments.

Meanwhile, Japan’s 2020 market environment is predicted to be one of grandeur. An immense visitor increase is expected in the summer, but also the recent simplified visa requirements for Chinese and Indian citizens, emerging Asian economies and increased air routes to e.g. the U.S, China, Russia, Australia, Italy, India, Turkey, Finland and Scandinavia contribute to an overall influx. The country stimulates this due to its ever-declining birth rate and rapidly aging society.

Specifically on the tourism side, Japan is facilitating this trend by updating its accessibility via improved public infrastructure, renovated sightseeing spots, new (luxury) and simple accommodations, multilingual support and dining options for every diet. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism invested heavily in the Greater Tokyo Area to handle the estimated 35 million inbound visitors – according to Euromonitor International.

GMT believes that 2020 will boost the inbound traffic for the coming years as the Japanese government is aiming to welcome 60 million overseas tourists by 2030. The DMC is more than ready to handle the uplift in all traffic areas such as Government, Corporate and Leisure with its new “Experience Deep Japan” concept and corresponding new department, which will focus on unique experiences for first timers as well as repeaters. “We are in preparation to make foreign visitors extra welcome and cared for, not only this year, but for the coming years as well to sustain the brand of our country, Japan.”

JTB WITH TWO SUB-BRANDS AT ITB BERLIN 2020
JTB Corp.’s two sub-brands will be present during ITB Berlin 2020. The Global DMC Network by JTB Group (network of JTB-owned global inbound companies) and JTB Europe Japan Specialist (Japan Outbound Tour Operator) will cover the trade show’s B2B and B2C needs throughout the first week of March for the second time in a row.

JTB Corp. was founded as Japan Tourist Bureau in 1912 with the objective to bring foreign visitors to Japan. Currently, the JTB Group is a leader in the travel and tourism field with its immense line-up of domestic and overseas tour products and services in the corporate, leisure, education and MICE markets – and is Asia’s number one tour operator. In recent years, the JTB Group established new companies, joint ventures and M&A’s with local companies in order to construct a strong network with 502 offices in 39 countries. Furthermore, JTB is an Official Travel Services Partner for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Global DMC Network by JTB Group is a fully-integrated network spanning across Europe, Asia (Pacific), Oceania and the Americas with global inbound total management services in MICE, Leisure Tours and Destination Product Services. For this year’s ITB Berlin three Asia Pacific DMCs: JTB Global Marketing & Travel (Japan Inbound), LOTTE JTB (South Korea Inbound) and Tour East (18 destinations in Asia Pacific Inbound) will promote their knowledge and expertise about Asia. Tour East focuses on its new online system and sustainable development goals, LOTTE JTB on the long haul Japan-South Korea combination for first timers and JTB GMT on its One-Stop Services and Deep Experiences in Japan.

JTB Corp’s European entity JTB Europe will take care of the Japan Outbound side on the B2C days with its Japan Specialist sub-brand. JTB Japan Specialist focuses on unique custom packages to Japan accompanied by A to Z knowledge and assistance. The JTB Japan Specialist has branches in 12 European countries: e.g. in The Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many more.

The Global DMC Network by JTB Group and JTB Japanspezialist (JTB Europe Germany) will share a booth in Hall 26C, booth 302 at ITB Berlin.
