Jumio makes booking process six times faster for Bravofly.com

Customers using the Bravofly.com app can now complete bookings in as little as 30 seconds by scanning their passport with their mobile device camera to automatically fill in their personal details and passport number into the booking form.

PALO ALTO, CALIF. – Jumio, Inc., the fast growing online and mobile credentials management company, announced the launch of a new, faster and easier way to book travel with Bravofly.com, part of the lastminute.com group, a European leader in the online travel and leisure industry. Utilising Jumio’s computer vision technology, Bravofly.com app users will now be able to book flights in as little as 30 seconds, six times faster than before.

Industry-wide, online travel agents suffer from a booking abandonment rate of 80%; only one in five people who start booking travel on their mobile device actually complete the process. This is primarily caused by the need to adhere to security requirements that require complex forms to be filled out on a small mobile device keyboard.

Customers using the Bravofly.com app can now complete bookings in as little as 30 seconds by scanning their passport with their mobile device camera to automatically fill in their personal details and passport number into the booking form. This data is not stored by either Jumio or Bravofly.com, giving further peace of mind to customers.

Jumio’s Fastfill easily integrates into the Bravofly.com app and automates extraction and population of customer information from identity documents, which consumers hold up to their mobile device camera. Jumio processes IDs issued by over 120 countries, making time-consuming, manual data entry a thing of the past. At the same time, Jumio’s Fastfill gathers passport data to help travel agents and airlines to comply with Advance Passenger Information Systems compliance requirements.

The Bravofly.com app is further enhanced by Jumio’s BAM Checkout, which enables consumers to use their mobile device camera to scan their payment card and automatically populate the checkout form with name, 16-digit card number and expiry date. Entering payment data in this manner takes less than one second as compared to nearly 60 seconds for traditional key entry and typically results in at least a 10% lift in completed transactions.

“Purchasing travel services on mobile devices is something consumers find incredibly useful,” said David Pope, Director of Marketing EMEA, Jumio. “But easily solvable process problems are ruining the customer experience – as evidenced by very high mobile transaction abandonment rates. We all know that it’s a difficult and frustrating process to manually enter all the information required on booking and payment forms. Putting the customer’s needs first is one of the reasons why the lastminute.com group has become an industry leader, and partnering with Jumio helps it to continue driving the industry forward. Providing great consumer experiences, particularly in mobile transactions, has become the new competitive edge that Jumio clients are enjoying.”

“Our aim is to simplify the life of travellers and providing the best consumer experience through innovation,” said Francesco Signoretti, CEO of lastminute.com. “With Jumio’s technology we can now offer our customers a frictionless and secure booking and payment system, which will be six times faster than before. This will significantly improve the customer’s travel experience right from the initial booking and fits well with our efforts to continuously leverage our mobile capabilities and features.”
