"In June, the passenger traffic result at Katowice Airport was 94% of the record sixth month of 2019, when 583 thousand travellers were handled at the airport. We expect a very busy peak of the summer season. We'll definitely get close to results from two record-breaking summer months of 2019," said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of GTL SA, the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport.

With June, the first half of 2022 has come to an end. 1,629,607 travellers were handled during that time at Katowice Airport, that's 1,208 336 passengers more (+286.8%) than during the first six months of 2021. Between January and the end of June, 965,152 passengers flew on regular flights, that's 853,713 travellers more (+766.1%) than last year. "The beginning of the year was characterized by uncertainty in the aviation industry. That's why traffic was improving at a slower rate in the first quarter of 2022. During spring, that changed and traffic began growing faster. Consequently, we have concluded the first half of the year with 1.63 million handled passengers. That's 80% of traffic from 2019, when we handled a little over 2 million travellers," said Artur Tomasik, the President of GTL SA.
