Ker & Downey Africa partners with leading travel risk management provider, Global Rescue

The award-winning luxury travel company specializes in curating highly-personalized trips throughout Africa, taking clients to some of the most remote and untouched regions on the continent.

Ker & Downey Africa has joined forces with Global Rescue, the world’s leading membership organization providing medical, security, travel risk and evacuation services to travelers across the globe.

The award-winning luxury travel company specializes in curating highly-personalized trips throughout Africa, taking clients to some of the most remote and untouched regions on the continent. Acknowledging that the unexpected can happen while traveling, the team at Ker & Downey Africa have extended their world-class services to include equipping travelers with the very best team of medical and security experts to provide support in the event of an emergency. This includes medical evacuation services, as well as security services for natural disasters, civil unrest and government evacuation orders.

“People are eager to travel safely and Global Rescue helps them be informed, prepared and protected. Global Rescue allows Ker & Downey Africa customers to travel with peace of mind, knowing they have on demand medical rescue and support for any emergency injury or illness, including COVID-19, in their time of need,” says Matt Aubin, Director of Channel Sales at Global Rescue.

Unlike travel insurance which protects the value of a trip, a Global Rescue travel membership protects the livelihood of its clients. Travelers who purchase a Global Rescue membership will have access to around the clock consultation services provided by medical professionals supported by the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Division of Special Operations. They will also be fully covered in the event of a medical field rescue, or should an evacuation or security extraction from a dangerous environment be required.

“An emergency evacuation in Africa can cost up to $300,000 and is an intricate logistical operation. The team at Global Rescue have conducted thousands of rescues, including helicopter evacuations from some of the most remote corners of the Earth. They are the trusted provider for top tier organizations like NASA and National Geographic and we are proud to have them on board,” says Sarah Morris, General Manager of the private clients division at Ker & Downey Africa.

Aware of the ongoing stresses of the pandemic, Global Rescue also provides personalized medical evacuation services to COVID-19-infected travelers, including transport to a hospital of your choice in your home country. Other COVID-19 services include review of care from in-house physicians, locating testing facilities, and advisory services regarding quarantine and fluctuating border closures.

Travelers who sign up for a membership will be equipped with the Global Rescue Mobile App where they can access critical medical, security and information resources at the touch of the button. They will also be able to request emergency assistance from anywhere in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. Hundreds of personnel in operation centers and on the ground in multiple locations around the world are available 365/24/7 to assist. The team includes critical care paramedics, physicians and nurses, as well as experienced military special operations veterans.

Clients booking with Ker & Downey Africa can request a membership with Global Rescue to be added to their final itinerary to ensure a seamless and stress-free traveling experience in Africa.
