The codeshare agreement between LAN Peru and Korean Air will provide passengers of both airlines access to more and better connections between Lima and Seoul (with stopover in Los Angeles) while also expanding LATAM Airlines Group’s connectivity between Latin America, the United States and Asia.
LIMA – LAN Peru, the leader in passenger and cargo transportation in the country and a member of LATAM Airlines Group, and Korean Air, the largest airline in South Korea, are implementing a codeshare agreement for the Lima – Los Angeles – Seoul route, making Lima one of the main hubs in the region and allowing for greater passenger traffic between both countries and the continent.
After obtaining the regulatory approvals required to implement the agreement, LAN Peru and Korean Air can jointly market the Lima – Los Angeles – Seoul route. This will allow LAN Peru passengers to take connection flights to Seoul through Korean Air. Similarly, Korean Air passengers leaving Seoul will have access to LAN Peru’s connection flights in Los Angeles (U.S.) bound for Lima.
“We are very happy to implement this agreement, which allows us to further expand the company’s connectivity network and provide our passengers with more direct access to Asian destinations via Seoul, besides increasing passenger traffic from, to and within Peru. This country has certainly been growing economically and has a privileged geographic location that turns Lima into one of the most important hubs for LATAM Airlines Group and the region,” said Felix Antelo, CEO of LAN Peru.
This initiative not only means that the airlines will be able to sell tickets for each flight, but also represents a more comfortable travel experience as it allows passengers to purchase only one ticket and check-in only once for the entire route.
This will strengthen the connectivity offered by the LATAM Airlines Group as the best option to fly from Asia to Latin America through the United States. The airline group is the second passenger transport operator between the U.S. and South America, transporting over 3.3 million passengers from and to the U.S. in 2013.
