Leading New Zealand tourism marketing company opens office in New Orleans

Auckland’s Tomahawk Agency ready to do business in the U.S.

NEW ORLEANS – Tomahawk Tourism Marketing, the New Zealand digital agency behind many of that country’s biggest travel brands, is aiming to make an impact in the U.S. tourism market with a new office in New Orleans, Louisiana. The company has hired Marica Mackenroth Brewster, a former client and digital tourism marketing veteran, to head the new region as Accounts Director – US.

Tomahawk's goal is to offer a new audience their highly specialized tourism expertise with a centrally located agent available during business hours in the States. Mrs. Brewster will bring the firm’s strategy consulting, digital creative and website construction, SEO and SEM, and ResBook – the company’s boutique hotel reservation software – to new and existing clients.

Tomahawk was founded in 2007 by John Hayson, former CEO of New Zealand and Australian eCommerce company Conduit International Limited, and Gina Paladini, a California native known for starting inbound tourism agency NZ Encounters, ResBook, and TourWriter, a widely-used international tourism software package. The agency's high profile portfolio includes work with Fiji Airways, Experience Australia, Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau, and The Duke of Marlborough.

“We’ve been gathering some buzz in the States for quite a while now, so expanding into the market at this time makes perfect sense. After working with Marica, we knew she was the exact person to lead our efforts there,” said Ms. Paladini.

Mrs. Brewster’s background includes keyword bidding for the city of New Orleans’ publicly funded post Hurricane Katrina recovery campaign, a position leading 300 clients on the digital agency side, and marketing direction for Pelican New Orleans, an umbrella company conglomerate. Recently appointed Public Relations Chair for Mid South Women in Tourism, she also serves on the Marketing Advisory Board for Louisiana Tax Free Shopping, leads market strategy for Louisiana's Latin American Tourism Task Force, and is part of New Orleans City Business's most recent class of "Women of the Year." She adds to the already diverse team of employees who hail from 12 different countries and affectionately call themselves “T – Hawks.”
