Leonardo Worldwide introduces program for travel technology start-ups

The program empowers travel start-ups such as travel websites, review sites and travel technology vendors to focus on launching and growing their ventures without worrying about the complexities and costs of sourcing, managing and displaying hotel visual content.

TORONTO, CANADA – Leonardo Worldwide, a technology company serving the global hospitality industry, has launched a new program designed to facilitate and accelerate new travel technology companies focused on the accommodation market.

The program empowers travel start-ups such as travel websites, review sites and travel technology vendors to focus on launching and growing their ventures without worrying about the complexities and costs of sourcing, managing and displaying hotel visual content. Under the program, approved start-ups receive a fully implemented subscription to MediaConnect Complete for one year with no integration, certification or recurring costs.

MediaConnect Complete provides:

  • Access to the world’s largest database of brand and hotel certified visual content that is updated regularly to ensure accuracy and freshness
  • Media categorized and normalized based on industry standards from HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation) and Open Travel Alliance
  • Multiple formats and sizes with meta-data including categories and captions
  • Automated image de-duplication
  • Advanced multi-media display technology in either optimized or responsive designs
  • Automated property matching based on GDS property identifiers
  • Technical implementation and certification
  • Media copyright indemnification guarantees

Travelgator’s travelgator.com consumer website and Nightly’s new nightly.travel hotel booking website (currently in private beta) are two of the initial start-ups in this program. Here’s what they’re saying about it.

“We aggregate the best available hotel rates from so many different sources and prior to subscribing to Leonardo’s MediaConnect the size and quality of the images we were receiving was inconsistent – it was affecting our user experience. Now, thanks to Leonardo, we only display high quality images and have significantly improved the user experience on Travelgator.com,” says Constantin Tovisi, Vice President Business Development and Co-Founder, Travelgator.

“Our unique business model is to encourage travelers to consider combining hotels for their trip to get better value. We follow established industry research that the quality and quantity of images and multimedia will be integral to our conversion rates and success. Now that we have Leonardo’s MediaConnect, we’re delivering the highest quality hotel visual content to our users and we don’t have to worry about the costs,” says Santiago Navarro, Co-founder, Nightly.

While the program is designed primarily to benefit travel technology start-ups by enabling them to offer better user experiences to their customers through high quality hotel media, it also benefits hotel chains and properties. Specifically, hotel chains that subscribe to VScape and hotel properties that subscribe to Vizlly. As more and more start-ups join the program, the hotel images and digital brochures that chains and properties syndicate using Leonardo’s digital asset management and digital marketing systems will benefit from reaching a larger and expanding audience of travel shoppers on new and exciting travel websites and apps.

“We were once a start-up ourselves and innovation is part of our DNA, so offering fresh, innovative travel start-ups with a solution that will help will help fuel their growth truly excites us. We want to be part of their success and our contribution to that is through enabling them to offer their customers the best quality hotel multimedia with the most robust technology behind it – without breaking the bank,” says John McAuliffe, President, Leonardo Worldwide.
