Mantic Point’s Business Traveller Risk survey identifies current attitudes to risk management

Over 60% of respondents also confirmed that they do not currently receive updates from their employer or travel agency whilst away on business trips, should any changes occur in the potential travel risks associated with their location.

Mantic Point, the itinerary management solutions provider, has released the findings of its annual Business Traveller Risk survey, which has shown 52% of respondents do not have access to a formal travel policy, or is simply not aware whether one exists with their workplace, which would provide them with the necessary assistance to keep them safe on their travels.

At the time of the survey, 118 city and country travel risk alerts were in place across the globe with varying categories of risk, yet when asked to estimate the current travel risk environment, a majority of the respondents (55%) thought this figure would be 20, greatly underestimating the potential and actual risks when travelling.

Over 60% of respondents also confirmed that they do not currently receive updates from their employer or travel agency whilst away on business trips, should any changes occur in the potential travel risks associated with their location. Yet, 73% confirmed they would want to be informed immediately of any risks that might affect their trip. To add to this, 79% also said they would find it useful for their employer or travel agency to be able to locate them automatically, during an emergency situation.

Commenting on the findings, Mike Atherton, Mantic Point’s CEO said: “The findings from our Business Traveller Risk Survey highlights a desire by travellers to receive much more information and insight regarding the regions they are travelling to, both before and during the journey, from a safety perspective.  If a risk profile changes, they want to be kept informed by their employer, travel agency or travel management company, which would not only provide reassurance, but ongoing peace-of-mind that their journey is being closely monitored and plans can be revised, as necessary.”

Mantic Point provides a range of risk management, incident management and traveller tracking tools to help boost traveller safety for TMCs, travel agencies and their business traveller customers.
