MAPFRE Assistance provides travel assistance to 11000 Bahrain Mecca travellers

MAPFRE Assistance has collaborated with the Bahraini insurance company Takaful International Insurance in order to adapt its services to the local market

BAHRAIN – MAPFRE Assistance has provided Travel Assistance to 11,000 Bahraini citizens during the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca (Saudi Arabia), one of the fundamental events for Islam, held on 24 and 25 October and attended by over three million of the Muslim faithful from all over the world.

MAPFRE Assistance won the tender to provide Travel Assistance to the pilgrims from Bahrain, organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which imposes such cover as a requirement for going on the pilgrimage.

MAPFRE Assistance collaborated closely with the local insurance company Takaful International Insurance in order to adapt its Assistance service. In the Muslim world, insurance services are known as takaful, and consist in a back-up mechanism based on mutual cooperation and solidarity.

Founded in 1989, Takaful International Insurance is Bahrain’s leading insurance company and one of the pioneers in the Middle East as a whole. It currently offers insurance and assistance services tailored both for Islamic and conventional companies.
