Mark Morrison joins Expedia, Inc. as Vice President of Owner Strategy and Services

Hotel industry veteran to fill new global leadership role working with hotel owners and management companies.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Expedia announced that Mark Morrison has joined its team as vice president, owner strategy and services. A global hospitality industry veteran, Morrison will be focused on growing relationships with, and developing new services for, hotel owners and management companies. Morrison will enhance Expedia's abilities to work with and address hotel owners' needs as the Company continues to evolve and innovate.

“As Expedia continues to grow, we are becoming more relevant to hotel owners and management companies. We recognize the need to do more to partner with our hotel suppliers and the hotel industry in general,” said Melissa Maher, senior vice president, Global Partnership Group, Expedia, Inc. “With Mark’s deep background and relationships in the hotel industry, he brings a valuable perspective and point of collaboration.”

Passionate about hotel industry innovation, Morrison was most recently advising and investing in travel start-ups. Prior to that, Morrison spent eight years with Hilton Worldwide where he led the corporate strategy function following its buyout by Blackstone. During that time, he managed a variety of corporate strategic projects and planning efforts for Hilton, which included a successful IPO in 2013. He has also held roles in hotel asset management, development, and financial operations.

“I come to the role at Expedia with an understanding of how the industry works, and the challenges of accelerated change in technology, consumer habits, and globalization,” said Morrison. “By joining a travel technology leader like Expedia, I am excited to work on these issues through a new lens, with the goal of advancing the industry and owner experience.”

Morrison is a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School and Kellogg School of Business. He has also held strategic advisement roles with Bain & Company, and Silicon Valley Bank. He served as a volunteer development consultant with the Peace Corps for two years in Panama, and as a volunteer hotel consultant with Technoserve in Mozambique. His portfolio of global work within hospitality, real estate, and strategy will give Morrison a beneficial perspective as Expedia looks to enhance industry relationships.

“I am spending my first several months learning about the many products, services and industry innovations that Expedia offers, and exploring potential strategies going forward” said Morrison. “I look forward to working more closely with the hotel industry to share my learnings, while bringing their perspectives to bear on the future work of the company.”
