Megabus.com reaches 40 million customers

City-to-city, express bus company served five million customers in six months, providing further evidence of dramatic growth of bus travel.

NEW YORK – megabus.com, the first city-to-city, express bus company with fares from $1, has served 40 million customers across North America since the company began in 2006. The company served five million customers in the last six months alone, helping to make city-to-city bus travel the fastest growing and most economical transportation mode.

In celebration of the milestone, megabus.com awarded a customer with an iPad Air during a celebration event at megabus.com’s new arrival/departure location at 902 N. Semoran Blvd. in Orlando.

Megabus.com – serving 32 states in over 120 cities across North America – has increased sales by 13.5 percent in the last year.

In recent months, the company has:

  • Initiated a Reserved Seating program in 40 cities across North America, allowing customers the option of reserving one of 10 “premium” seats for a small fee.
  • Added service to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Miami, Tallahassee and Tampa, Florida.

“Megabus.com’s is now the travel option of choice for more than 40 million customers, and we’re thrilled to serve them as our customers,” said Mike Alvich, megabus.com’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations. “As customers look for ways to stretch their dollars, we look forward to continuing to provide safe, convenient and affordable travel options each and every trip.”

According to a 2014 study by the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University, bus transportation remains the fastest-growing and most economical transportation mode and express bus carriers like megabus.com provided American travelers savings of $1.2 billion over the past year with the average customer saving more than 81 percent relative to flying.

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and is one of the largest city-to-city express bus service providers in North America. In addition to affordable fares, megabus.com offers customers state-of-the-art, green-certified double-decker buses with free Wi-Fi, power outlets, seat belts, restrooms and are wheelchair accessible.
