The Dubai<.> Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM<.>) heads a 11-strong travel trade delegation to participate in the Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF) that takes part in Cairo, as part of a drive to boost intra-regional travel.

DTCM Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem who heads the Dubai team at the event said, Intra-regional travel is a rapidly expanding market segment and our participation at MTF is designed to target those involved in the travel and tourism sector within the region.

The Mediterranean region offers tremendous potential and with enhanced co-operation between neighboring countries, interest in this region is growing strongly,
remarked Mr. bin Sulayem.

Dubai`s 36 square meter stand at the event will provide information about leading exhibitions and events in Dubai as well as promote Dubai Shopping Festival, Palm Island development and the IMF/World Bank meeting in 2003 among others.

MTF is now in its third year and incorporates the whole of the Eastern Mediterranean region including Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey and Cyprus.

The launch of MTF in 2000 and its continued success in 2001, indicate the growing importance of tourism in this rapidly expanding region.

MTF is held under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and is supported by the Egyptian Tourist Authority, the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, the Egyptian Hotels Association, the Egyptian Travel Agents Association and Egypt Air.
