Dubai`s attractions as a tourist destination will be aired for 60 minutes to more than 39 million prime time viewers across Latin America. This follows the successful completion of familiarization visit by Brazilian`s Globo TV, assisted by the Dubai`s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

DTCM Manager Missions, Hamad bin Mejren said that a feature on Dubai would invigorate our mission of promoting the emirate as a premium holiday as well business destination.

Dubai`s touristic facilities, amenities and commercial infrastructure have been covered extensively, which will help in spreading greater awareness on the emirate in the Latin American market,
said bin Mejren, according to a press release. He stated that Dubai is being featured on a programme titled `Fantastico` and will be shown in six episodes. He considered this, an excellent opportunity to introduce Latin American viewers with the multi-faceted emirate, as the programme will be broadcast on Sunday night attracting maximum viewers.

Entertaining TV crews is an integral part of the DTCM`s strategy of promoting Dubai`s tourist and commercial attractions. This will certainly result in generating greater international awareness of Dubai`s culture and heritage and its growth into a cosmopolitan and modern city, said bin Mejren. The crew extensively covered places such as golf clubs, heritage sites, souks, shopping malls and tour and safaris, hotels and new developments such as Palm Islands.

In addition to this, DTCM executives prepared a wide-ranging itinerary that included an all-encompassing tour of city and its unique attractions. Bin Mejren noted that with this detailed programme featuring Dubai as a whole, we expect to attract more visitors from Latin America in the coming years.

We believe that Dubai is a superb holiday destination for Latin American travellers. It provides them with a high level of security, clean sandy beaches, plenty of golf courses, luxurious hotels and top international brands for shopping,
said bin Mejren.

The Dubai feature is scheduled for broadcast in May 2003. The programme `Fantastico` can be viewed also in America, Europe and even in Japan. DTCM also invited the Brazilian community living in Dubai for a dhow cruise dinner, to give their views about Dubai as a destination to the TV crew, which helped in positive canvassing of the emirate.
