The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing`s (DTCM) Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem recently received the President of World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Jean-Claude Baumgarten at the department`s Head Office. Bin Sulayem said that Baumgarten spoke highly about the Dubai`s present and future developments. Receiving laudatory and appreciative comments from the pioneer of the travel and tourism industry is a matter of great satisfaction, said Bin Sulayem. He noted that the visiting dignitary was briefed about DTCM`s regional as well overseas promotional activities. There were talks on a various subjects including our marketing and promotional strategies and development of Dubai as business and leisure hub, said Bin Sulayem.
Baumgarten said that Dubai has remarkably developed as an attractive destination for travelers and entire credit goes to the foresightedness approach and vision of the rulers of Dubai. The emirate has grown into the UAE`s major leisure hub, offering the most modern facilities admired world-wide, and simultaneously giving visitors a glimpse into the history and heritage of Arabia. Dubai state-of -the art infrastructure, fabulous sports facilities, clean sandy beaches, upcoming developments and of course shopping, are among its biggest attractions, he said.
Commenting on the World Tourism Organisation report that Dubai has registered a +30 per cent strong rebound in terms of International tourists arrival and has occupied the top place in the most frequently visited destinations, Baumgarten said: During the times when the world tourism suffered setback and took a retreat, the emirate`s strategic planning kept Dubai in limelight. He also said that WTTC would prepare a report on the economic and social contribution of Travel and Tourism in the World. The report would be released by the Secretary General of United Nation Organisation, Kofi Annan.
