Mount Athos Area Tourism Organization reaches out for the Vietnamese tourism market

The choice of this first Asian country for approach comes due to a study of the profile of Vietnamese visitors whose features are delineated around cultural explorations of important historical and archaeological sites. At the same time, these numerous tourists invest heavily in relaxation breaks or in combination excursions.

The first, bold and thoroughly planned approach of the Vietnamese tourism market – through a D2D business meeting program – was held on 28, 29 and 30 August 2017 by members of the Board of Directors and representatives of the Mount Athos Area Tourism Organization, who literally "sweeped" the city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), to present to the executives of local tourist offices the cultural journey titled "From Amphipolis to Athos".

The appointments were organized in partnership with Travel Media Applications, which has been active in the Southeast Asia region since 2012, and publishes the "TravelDailyNews Asia-Pacific" covering the news of this dynamic tourism market of 680 million people.

The Organization, "armed" with his mapping packages of cultural tours that lead the visitor from the archaeological park of Amphipolis to Ancient Stagira, Athona, Sidirokaussia and Thessaloniki, held eight professional visits, during which the potential of this route was presented.

Photographic material, videos, images, printed thematic catalogs, enriched the special information file, which was delivered to Vietnamese professionals.

The highly encouraging response of the Asians, as well as their positive approach to every European destination, puts in the Organization's planning a very important fam trip, which will be held in co-operation with China's GNTO office and is expected to feature 10 articles to mostly important printed and electronic editions of East Asia.

In the spring of 2018, Vietnamese tourism professionals are expected in Thessaloniki to follow the cultural "arc trails" that were presented in Ho Chi Minh, thus acquiring historical tourism experience and experiencing its significance.
