Number of tourists in Al Ain to reach 710,000 in 2020 and retail space to touch 800,000 sq.m.

Bawadi Mall dedicates 2015 to creating a new shopping era in Al Ain city.

AL AIN, UAE – The Urban Structure Framework Plan of Al Ain has projected that number of tourists in the city would reach 710,000 in 2020 and 1,071,000 by 2030. The same report suggests that retail space would reach 800,000 sq.m.

This was highlighted in connection with Bawadi Mall’s 2015 plans for offering visitors with a unique shopping experience.

According to Bassam Saleh, Marketing Manager, Bawadi Mall, the Abu Dhabi government’s drive to attract such a huge number of visitors by 2020 provides a shot in the arm to the retail and shopping sectors in the city.

He added: “Being the biggest shopping and entertainment destination in Al Ain, we believe that we have a bigger role to play in contributing in the tourism and retail growth in the city.”

“These figures reflect the promising expansion of the retail sector in Al Ain. We have devised an elaborate plan that includes entertainment shows, winning draws, shopping discounts, open days, international art campaigns and others.”

According to Urban Structure Framework Plan, the city holds a huge potential for business expansion with more global retail brands making their foray.

“The aim is to continue positioning Bawadi Mall as not only a retail stop but also an all-round preferred destination. Our plans are tailored for different types of visitors. Building on our rich experience in the retail sector, we have lined up activities that would appeal to the majority of mall visitors.”

Bawadi Mall attracted over 1.3 million visitors in 2014 recording highest footfall since its inception. “We have been able to win the trust of Al Ain residents as a preferred shopping and entertainment destination. This strategy will continue during 2015, with more varied options,” added Saleh.

Bawadi Mall is considered the ultimate shopping, dining, and leisure destination in the city of Al Ain. It was officially inaugurated by HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative for Eastern Province in April, 2009.
