Palatinate Group launches Albatross Club to meet demand for luxury lifestyle golf travel and networking

In conjunction with the launch, the brand will host a group of journalists from luxury, lifestyle and golf-specific publishers at The Renaissance Club, the semi-private resort near Edinburgh that will be typical of Albatross Club’s product portfolio.

The founders of Your Golf Travel will unveil Albatross Club in April, the newest addition to their Palatinate Group of leisure travel companies. The new operator will build bespoke itineraries for luxury travel sector consumers with a global but carefully curated collection of destinations plus offer a limited collection of five-star golf hotel packages. In addition, Albatross Club members will be invited to exclusive events, showcases and networking functions.

In conjunction with the launch, the brand will host a group of journalists from luxury, lifestyle and golf-specific publishers at The Renaissance Club, the semi-private resort near Edinburgh that will be typical of Albatross Club’s product portfolio. The itinerary is tailored to underline the provisions for non-golfers that the founders see as crucial to broadening the appeal; Michelin-starred chef Nick Nairn’s cookery demonstration will be one of the off course highlights.

The collection of sample itineraries features a 10-day Caribbean tour with stops in Barbados, Mustique and Canouan Islands and the One&Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas. Inclusive of private jet flights, the experience is a statement of intent from the business as it looks to bring a viable golfing product to the attention of the most demanding of travel consumers. The experience portfolio has been crafted by Tom Watt, a golfer with twenty years of experience in the luxury travel sector.

Within the clutch of hand-picked hotels and resorts, the likes of Finca Cortesin, near Malaga, stands out, being paired with Valderrama and San Roque golf plus nightly reservations at the best local restaurants, including Kabuki Raw, holder of a Michelin star. Closer to home, the Albatross Club take on links golf is on show in East Lothian, where guests will prepare to play Muirfield and North Berwick by staying at the famed Greywalls Hotel, perched on the fringes of the illustrious Open Championship venue.

There will also be exclusive luxury trips to the US Masters, the Ryder Cup and other high profile tournaments, as well as opportunities to play with Tour Pros.

Group Ambassador Lee Westwood has been made an honorary founding member and is impressed with the early plans: “I look forward to meeting fellow members during the course of the year; the events planned will be great networking opportunities.”

Ross Marshall, one of the founders of the Palatinate Group, explained the motivation for the new market entry: “We have launched the Albatross Club to service the needs of clients who want bucket list golfing experiences all over the world. I am extremely excited about the first membership club dedicated to golf travel.”

The website was launched on April 4th with regular print mini-brochures being published throughout the year.
