Pana announces new on-demand travel concierge service and $1.35m in funding

Startup combines artificial intelligence with the human touch of real travel experts to offer personalized travel booking, recommendations, emergency assistance, and exclusive benefits.

DENVER – Pana (formerly Native) announced the launch of its new high-touch, personalized travel concierge and the closure of a $1.35 million seed funding round. Pana is currently accepting a limited number of beta members at pana.com. Service will be rolling out to beta customers over the next couple months.

Pana’s travel-savvy members simply send a message via the app to their concierge requesting flight bookings, hotel reservations, car rental, or restaurant suggestions. Through a combination of live travel experts and the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology, members’ requests are swiftly handled and answered, typically within 30 – 60 seconds of when the request was made.

The company’s AI-powered concierge team delivers individually tailored recommendations for flights, hotels, cars, and food by leveraging personalization profiles automatically built by member preferences and past behaviors. The concierges also proactively discover and address travel challenges such as booking a different flight when a cancellation or delay occurs.

“Imagine having someone on call, around the clock, to help you get where you need to be, provide suggestions based on your preferences, and solve travel problems when the inevitable happens -that’s Pana- we handle your travel so you can focus on the things that matter,” said Devon Tivona, Pana CEO and co-founder. “Many of our initial beta customers describe the Pana experience as ‘magical.’ Pana takes you back to a time when travel was glamorous and simple.”

Pana launches with two tiers of service: Standard: a monthly package providing each customer with unlimited bookings and access to preferred rates, perks, and rewards; and Lux: which includes all of the Standard benefits plus access to hundreds of travel lounges, black car airport pickups, automatic upgrades when available, VIP restaurant reservations, and more. The company also announced a preview of Escape: a free membership option tailored to the casual traveler, coming Winter 2015.

Pana currently provides domestic and international service for US-based customers.

The company’s $1.35 million in funding comes from Techstars, 500 Startups, FG Angels, Flight.vc, and Galvanize Ventures, among others. Pana plans to use the funds to rapidly increase product distribution and further develop its proprietary AI technology.
