During the eleventh month of 2022, 241,062 passengers were handled at Katowice Airport, i.e. 73,058 more (+43.5%) in comparison with the same month in 2021. 184,457 travellers flew on regular flights handled by Wizz Air, Ryanair, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines and KLM, i.e. 60,830 more (+49.2%) than in November 2021. In November, the following routes were the most popular:

  • Dortmund (29 482 passengers)
  • London-Stansted (18 607)
  • London-Luton (13 567)
  • Warsaw (8 068)
  • Frankfurt (7 977)

In the area of charter flights, i.e. flights handled for travel agencies, 53 456 passengers were served at Katowice Airport, that’s 12 757 passengers more (+31.3%) in comparison with the same time period in 2021. It was the best November in the area of charter traffic in the history of Katowice Airport; surpassed has been the result from November 2018, when 47 341 passengers were handled on charter flights. In November, the following charter routes were the most popular:

  • Marsa Alam (9 744 passengers)
  • Antalya (9 244)
  • Hurghada (8 700)
  • Gran Canaria (3 175)
  • Fuerteventura (2 938)

During the eleventh month of 2022, aircraft took off and landed 2 405 times at Katowice Airport.

“November 2022 was record-breaking when it comes to charter traffic. Worth noticing is the fact that, among 53 thousand passengers in that area of traffic, 7.5 thousand travellers flew via six long-haul routes to Cuba, Thailand, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. It proves that the airport has great potential when it comes to exotic charter destinations. In December, we should handle about 15 thousand travellers more than in November, due to the Holiday Season,” said Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group.

From January to the end of November 2022, 4.16 million passengers were handled at Katowice Airport, that’s 2 million passengers more (+92.4%) than last year. The result is 91% of traffic in the same time period in the record-breaking 2019, when 4.56 million travellers were served at Katowice Airport.
