Pulkovo Airport welcomes first flight from Dresden

Germania operates St. Petersburg – Dresden route twice a week, leaving from the German city on Thursdays and Sundays and the return flights going back on Fridays and Mondays.

On April 27, 2018, Germania launched direct flights between St. Petersburg (Russia) and Dresden (Germany). The capital city of the state of Saxony became a new destination in the route network and the seventh German city with direct scheduled service from Pulkovo St. Petersburg airport.

Pulkovo welcomed the first aircraft of the new carrier with a traditional water canon salute on the ramp. Travelers departing on the first flight were greeted at the check-in with candy and souvenirs. The very first passenger received a special set of gifts from the airport operator Northern Capital Gateway LLC and the airline.

Germania operates St. Petersburg – Dresden route twice a week, leaving from the German city on Thursdays and Sundays and the return flights going back on Fridays and Mondays.

In addition to Dresden, Pulkovo airport offers direct connection to such German cities as Berlin (Schonefeld and Tegel airports by Rossiya Airlines and S7 Airlines respectively), Hamburg and Dusseldorf (by Rossiya Airlines), Munich (by Rossiya Airlines and Lufthansa), Frankfurt am Main (by Lufthansa and Ural Airlines), and Cologne (Pobeda).

Germany remains one of the most demanded international destinations from Pulkovo airport. In 2017, direct traffic between St. Petersburg and the cities in Germany grew by 17% compared to 2016 and amounted to 717,200 passengers.

Germania is an independent German airline established over 30 years ago. On short-haul and medium-haul flights the airline, with its distinctive green and white livery, carries more than 3 million passengers per year. Germania offers connections from 20 departure airports in Europe to over 55 destinations within the continent, North Africa and the Middle East. Reversing the common industry trend, Germania continues to offer complimentary snacks, soft drinks, magazines and a minimum of 20 kg free baggage allowance.

Pulkovo Airport welcomed 3.2 million passengers in January-March 2018, a 9.6% increase over the same period in 2017. In February 2018, Pulkovo for the third time in a row won the annual national prize Air Gateway of Russia. Passengers through open voting recognized the St. Petersburg airport as the best among the largest airports in Russia.

Since 2010, Northern Capital Gateways LLC has been the main operator of Pulkovo Airport. Based on a public-private partnership agreement with the city of St. Petersburg, the company manages the airport and implements its reconstruction and development project.
