Qatar Airways boosts frequency between Doha and Amman

Award-winning airline strengthens commitment to Jordan with two additional flights.

AMMAN, JORDAN – Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar, has added two additional flights between its hub in Doha and Amman, bringing the total number of services to Jordan to nine weekly flights.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the extra capacity would be a great boost as it would improve connections from Amman to around 100 cities across the airline’s global network, offering passengers more choice with further convenience and flexibility to their travel plans.

“As part of Qatar Airways’ ever-expanding route map, a key pillar is to also evaluate existing routes and increase capacity where there is passenger demand.

“Qatar Airways can seamlessly connect travellers from Amman via our Doha hub to diverse cities like London, Dubai, Kuwait, Khartoum, Manila, Dhaka, Muscat and many others.

“At the same time, with our new additional services, we offer travellers from around the world increased connectivity to access popular heritage tourist spots in Jordan such as the ancient city of Petra.”

Qatar Airways began operations to Amman in May 1994. The Doha – Amman route is operated by an Airbus A320, featuring 12 seats in First Class and up to 132 seats in Economy. Selected A320s feature seatback TV screens providing all passengers in both cabins with the next generation interactive onboard entertainment system – a choice of more than 800 audio and video on demand options.

Award-winning Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 127 aircraft to 128 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.

Qatar Airways has so far launched six destinations this year – Gassim (Saudi Arabia), Najaf (Iraq), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Chicago (USA), Salalah (Oman) and Basra (Iraq.

Over the next few months, the network will expand with the addition of further destinations – Sulaymaniyah, Iraq (August 20), Chengdu, China (September 3), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (September 18), Clark International Airport, Philippines (October 27) and Philadelphia, USA (2 April 2014).
