Qatar Airways’ new Oryx Kids Club puts even more fun into flying for children

New long-haul activity kits, special children’s menu, toys and Loyalty Programme promise to keep kids entertained on flights.

DOHA, QATAR – Qatar Airways announced the launch of Oryx Kids Club, an exciting new flying club for the airline’s youngest passengers, designed to put even more fun into flying for children.

The fun-filled launch took place at a press conference at KidzMondo Doha, hosted by Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Ehab Amin, and Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Communications, Ms. Salam Al Shawa, with a special appearance by the Oryx Kids Club hero mascots, ‘Orry’ and ‘Orah’ the Oryx and their three furry friends – Kamil the camel, Faaiz the falcon and Farah the desert fox.

The Oryx Kids Club and Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme offer special new children’s in-flight meal boxes and plush toys on board, in addition to a new and exclusive frequent flyer programme designed just for young passengers. Children ages two-11 will be able to register for the Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme and earn Qmiles, which they can redeem for attractive awards and exclusive benefits. They will also earn Qpoints, which allow them to upgrade to a higher tier.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Ehab Amin, said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to announce the launch of Oryx Kids Club programme and loyalty programme for its youngest travellers, offering them the opportunity to enjoy exceptional benefits while travelling with Qatar Airways. As an airline that is committed to welcoming children and families on board, Qatar Airways is thrilled about this new opportunity to interact with our passengers, from the moment they arrive at the airport.”

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Marketing and Communications, Ms. Salam Al Shawa, said: “Flying with Qatar Airways should always be a fun and easy experience for families, and so we are excited to be able to launch our new Oryx Kids Club, making every flight with Qatar Airways even more enjoyable and relaxing for both parents and children.

“Helped by Orry and Orah, and their friends Kamil, Faaiz and Farah, we want to inspire and excite children when they fly, and make Qatar Airways the airline of choice for families. Our great new cuddly toys, brand new activity packs, specially-designed children’s meals and a new frequent flyer offering, the Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme, which are supported by an extensive range of existing products and services that we already offer, will make flying with Qatar Airways a seamless and fun-filled journey for every child.”

Managing Director at Aura Entertainment Services, Mr. Nabil Barakat, said: "KidzMondo empowers our younger generations to realise the country’s National Vision 2030 and achieve its objectives of human and social development towards creating an advanced knowledge-based economy. Our edutainment city also acts as the perfect platform for our trusted partners, and Qatar Airways, by partnering with KidzMondo Doha, has demonstrated its support of this ambitious national vision as a socially responsible organisation. It has built a long-lasting impression with today’s parents and tomorrow’s citizens and residents in a meaningful way, while creating memorable events and positive engagements with its brand.”

Qatar Airways will also introduce new in-flight children’s meal boxes, which are more exciting, nutritious and varied. And later this year, each registered child will also receive a free cuddly toy of one of the Oxyx Kids Club’s five hero mascots, as well as an exciting new long-haul activity pack with fun games inside.

As part of the initiative, the Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme will also be launched in coming months for children ages 2-11, offering them the opportunity to enjoy value-added benefits while travelling with Qatar Airways as well as the ability to earn Qmiles, which can be redeemed for attractive awards. In addition, they will also be eligible to earn Qpoints, which moves them to a higher tier, offering exclusive benefits.

The programme will also feature a specially-designed secure section on the Privilege Club website where children can view their own dashboard, Qmiles balance, travel history and much more, keeping young loyalty members updated about their membership account.

Although the loyalty programme is for young travellers, parents will also play a key role in managing their child’s account, making it an exciting opportunity for parents and children who plan to travel together, so both can enjoy the mutual benefits provided by Privilege Club.

The fun new hero mascots will feature on the airline’s website, in marketing material and in all the literature and activity packs given to children when they fly long-haul, as well as at special appearances at Hamad International Airport (HIA). All parents need to do is register with the Oryx Kids Club at www.qatarairways.com.qa as part of the booking process, to make sure their children can join in all the fun on board.

The airline has already made a substantial investment at its home and hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), to excite and inspire children. The iconic Teddy Bear lamp is a firm favourite with families, along with dedicated children’s play areas and the Qatar Airways Duty Free Bumble Tree store. Al Mourjan Lounge at HIA also features a Formula 1 simulator in the play area and a games room, as well as a dedicated children’s nursery. Children travelling on their own also have access to a special unaccompanied minors’ lounge.

With more than 4,000 entertainment options to choose from, Qatar Airways’ award-winning in-flight entertainment service, Oryx One, also features dedicated children’s channels such as Disney, Nickelodeon, the Cartoon Network, Baraaem and Jeem, to keep youngsters happy throughout the flight. Family-friendly films currently being shown on board include My Little Pony: The Movie, The Lego Ninjago Movie, The Boss Baby, Winnie the Pooh and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, as well as many others.
